EAS Congress 2015: Global Targets, Local Benefits

Participation Details

The International Conference is open to coastal and economic managers, national and local government officials, policymakers, scientists, academia, representatives from local and international NGOs, POs, donor agencies, business sector, and youth representatives.

EAS Congress attendees will have access to various workshops, seminars or events, as well as to the exhibition and field trip during the EAS Congress. If you are interested to be part of this prestigious international event and want to know more details, please complete the Pre-registration* form.

Key Dates to Remember:
Pre-registration December 2014 to March 31, 2015
Online registration (early bird) April to July 30, 2015
Online registration (regular rate) August to October 31, 2015
Actual registration (on-site) November 15 to 18, 2015
Rates:
  • International Participants: US$ 350 (Early bird rate: US$ 300)
  • Local Participants (Vietnamese nationalities based in Vietnam): US$ 100
  • Student: US$ 150 (Early bird rate: US$ 100)

*The online registration is now closed. Kindly settle payment upon registration on-site, preferably in cash to avoid long queues.

**The application period for the EAS Youth Forum is now closed. Applications are currently being reviewed. Selected participants will be notified in the coming weeks.

 

The Ministerial Forum events or activities are mainly by invitation only. The Secretariat will coordinate directly with countries and invited guests regarding their participation arrangements.

The YF4 is open to youth from the countries of the East Asian Seas region: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, DPR Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, RO Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.

The applicant must be 18 to 25 years of age, a university or graduate student or young professional, and is an active member of youth organization/s and institution/s working in the field of sustainable development. Interested participants will undergo a screening process.

Interested youth should complete the Application Form and secure endorsements from ICM Project Management Office (PMO) Directors (for participants from ICM sites) or Supervisors/Advisers (for participants from youth organizations and universities).

All applications will be reviewed by a screening committee in PEMSEA. List of participants selected by the screening committee will be forwarded to the PEMSEA National Focal Points (NFPs) for final confirmation and endorsement.

A. As a Workshop/Seminar/Event Convener of the International Conference

If your organization is interested in convening a workshop, seminar or side event during the International Conference, please complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) and submit to the EAS Congress Secretariat at congress@pemsea.org or eascongress@gmail.com.

Final workshop/seminar/event program June 30, 2015

 

B. As a Youth Forum Convener

If your organization is interested in convening the Youth Forum, please complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) and submit to the EAS Congress Secretariat at congress@pemsea.org or eascongress@gmail.com.

C. EAS Congress Sponsor

A number of opportunities and mileage awaits the EAS Congress sponsors. As a sponsor at the EAS Congress, your organization will gain exposure to an international audience and at the same time contribute to promoting the welfare and sustainability of the Seas of East Asia.

To sponsor, just select your preferred sponsorship package and submit the  completed sponsorship form to the EAS Congress Secretariat at congress@pemsea.org or eascongress@gmail.com .

All participants requiring visa invitation letters to Vietnam should send their request to the EAS Congress 2015 Secretariat together with a scanned copy of the details page of their passport.

Please make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months from July 2015. The expiry dates of your passport should be December 2015 to January 2016 onwards.
Please check visa requirements for your country through the list provided in the Vietnamese Embassy.

Assistance in visa applications is provided by the EAS Congress 2015 secretariat. Kindly send the following information to congress@pemsea.org:

  • Family Name (as indicated in the passport)
  • Given Name (as indicated in the passport)
  • Nationality
  • Date of Birth
  • Passport number
  • Passport's date of expiry

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam (MONRE) and Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (VASI), the Congress' host agencies, will issue a letter of invitation, as may be required, to facilitate the issuance of your visa. Visa application forms are also available at the Vietnamese Embassy.

You are also advised to inquire from the Vietnamese embassy/consulate in your country on any travel requirements or advisories issued. Visit the venue section for more information on the host city, Danang, Vietnam.
